    On the left is actor John Hurt, probably best known for his role as John Merrick (The Elephant Man). On the right is a small part of the movie poster for Operation Dumbo Drop – which is obviously about an Elephant.
  2. What legendary performer has been immortalized in song, dance, film, and sculpture, shared his nickname with the name of a fast food chain – and even held an athletic world record for nearly 50 years? (3 pts)
    Bill ‘Bojangles’ Robinson – the dancer and actor has had songs and movies written about him, dances dedicated to him, and a sculpture of him erected in Richmond, Virginia. He also held the world record for the backward 100 meter dash from 1930 until 1977.
  3. Dude, what kind of car is this? (2 pts)

    The Tucker Sedan (or Torpedo)
    The great story behind this was brought to the silver screen in Tucker: The Man and His Dream, with Jeff Bridges in the role of Preston Tucker.
  4. It begins with a perennial plant with sword shaped flowers, and most recently added a device for measuring properties of the circulatory system. It has also included a sled – which was fortunate for Daniel. What is it? (3 pts)
    The Scripps National Spelling Bee began in 1925, and the winning word was “Gladiolus”. The 2010 winner had to spell “Stromuhr” (a device used to measure blood flow). In 1984, all Daniel Greenblatt had to spell was “luge”. Congrats to Joe Craven and Amy West, who were the only players to get this one right.
